I am back

I was too busy with my work for the past few months and could not spare time on blogging.

Heavy workload sometimes really drives me crazy. Luckily my passion for sewing always helps to erase the stress and tension that exist in my life. I found myself living in peace and content as long as I can sit down to sew , may it be just a few stiches.
I did not come out with much stuffs for the past few months, but every small project or stuff make me smile.

batik dress

patchwork zipper pouch

crocheted rug rag

floral blouse
denim box pouch

apple coasters

strawberry coasters

I will not stop sewing. I will only post if I am free. :)

Patchwork pincushion

I have a large amount of fabric scraps left over from sewing clothings.Using them for patchwork projects  have been my-to–do list forever.

This morning , I made a 4 in.x 4 in. patchwork pincushion.   It is made from sixteen pieces of 1.5 in. x 1.5 in. square patches  ( with 1/4  in seam allowance included) .

How many pincushions do I need ? One or two should be enoungh. I already have three, but it is such a great fun to make this cute little pincushion,  quick and easy to sew. When I could not have enough time to sew a blouse or a dress, I tend to sew some simple stuff like this.

This morning, I spent some time on cutting out many different sizes of squares from my scraps, 1 .5 in. x 1 .5 in,   2 in. x 2 in. ,  2 .5 in x 2. 5 in. ,  3in. x 3 in. , 3.5 in. x 3.5 in. and  4in. x 4 in. I put them in different boxes and intend to use them for making coasters, pincushions, pillows, pouches , drawstring bags, placemats, baskets and etc. So many things I wanted to do but  I have so little time !

Happy sewing to all of you !

Rectangular pincushion

I made another pincushion last night. It is rectangular in shape. The fabric used is still unbleached and undyed natural cotton.
At first I wanted to apply a dog applique on it, but thinking that every time I pop my needles and pins into it , I might have the feeling that as though I am hurting a poor dog. In the end, I decided the appliqué should be flowers instead. You know, there are flowers made from plastic, so I am not popping the real flowers …..Ha! Ha!

I need to stop here. I start work at noon and now it is time to prepare lunch. Holidays ended, back to work!

Sailing boat pincushion

I made a pincushion last night. The fabric used is unbleached and undyed natural cotton. I love blue colours , so I embellished the pincushion with a sailing boat applique, using scraps of blue denim and cotton fabrics.
